So last Monday I
talked a bit about how the whole Identity series got started and how my
characters tell me who they are, what they do, and who they love. This week
book two takes center stage, True Identity, and I thought I’d spend a few
minutes dishing the dirt on those characters. Ever wonder what secrets the
characters in a book are holding, the things only the writer knows about them?
What didn’t make it in to the book or things that may have been cut?
Well, did you
hear…
Steph Sachelles
has been working under the wire for Kyle Montgomery for years. If you’re
wondering why that’s significant…let me tell you. In book five, Assumed
Calling, you see Steph reappear and he also makes a cameo in the Force Recon
books. See, after Steph retires from the Corps, he goes to work for Kyle
full-time heading up his own Steele Image team.
Another Steph
fact…he can’t stand anyone who hurts an innocent, a woman, or a child—if you do
that and Steph finds out there is hell on earth.
Emilio…remember
him? The sub in Steele Image who is constantly bobbing about bringing drinks
and snacks, making sure everyone is comfortable in their rooms for the night?
So, here’s the secret behind the man. Emilio is a gay sub looking for a Master.
Master can be bi or gay, Emilio’s not concerned with it and he’s willing to
share. Want to know the biggest secret? He’s total putty at night to whomever
is topping him and will do the bidding of Kyle until the sun comes up, but by
day he works for Kyle in another capacity. He’s a total badass assassin and
killer tech guy for Steph’s team. You’ll see more of him in future works.
Who wondered about
Mistress Anne and wanted to know what she was all about? I can report that
Mistress Anne isn’t all she seems either. She’s in fact a switch who’s been
suppressing her urges to submit for years. She tends to overcompensate for her
urges by being an unrelenting and overly aggressive Domme. She doesn’t work for
Kyle…yet.
Jill’s tattoo…Now
there’s a little story. Anyone in the crowd read True Identity and Private
Pirouette? Guess who gave Jill that tattoo. The same artist that inked Piper.
Jacksonville’s a small town and when you write multiple lines in the same
place, you never know what might cross over. J
So, that’s my
dirt dishing for today. Be sure to come back next Monday…never know what I
might reveal next. J
You
have to leave the city of your comfort…
Jillian Stewart was as straight laced as they came. Or was she? After one man tearing her down to her very foundation, she’s set out on a path of self-discovery. Pursuing a Master’s degree in sociology, Jill’s determined to wrap her mind around the complexities of the BDSM world. Getting into a good doctorate program won’t be easy so she’s pulling out all the stops. After disregarding her professor’s warning against subjecting herself to the lifestyle, Jill finds she’s drawn to her tutor. But this isn’t her world. Is it?
and go into the wilderness of your intuition…
A career Marine Corps officer, Stephan Sachelles has always chosen to keep his lifestyle choices to himself. He avoids the underground house parties on the base to frequent a club miles from home in an effort to protect his privacy. Steph’s been a Master at Steele Image for years and he's enjoyed the company of many of the subs there with no intention of ever settling on just one. How would he make that work…it wasn’t like he could convert his base house into the dungeon of his dreams. Then Jill walks through the door. Steph’s intuition tells him there’s wild abandon inside her fighting for a chance at life. In the depths of her eyes, far behind the over analysis of everything she encounters, Steph sees the heart of a true submissive. But the resistance Jill puts up is driving Steph crazy. While she’s a good student, she just won't let go. Fighting his own internal battle, Steph finds he wants nothing more than to be the only Master to help her find her true identity.
Excerpt:
“Stop
saying that,” Jill hissed as she continued to read.
“Saying
what?” Steph leaned one elbow on the counter and ran a finger along the edge of
her glasses then over the rim of her ear.
“That
bit about me being a sub.” Jill shuddered at the contact between Steph’s
fingertip and the edge of her ear.
Steph’s
response was a very pleasant laugh followed by silence. Jill could feel the
heat of his stare everywhere his eyes razed her as she went back to carefully reading.
Club rules. Ask before touching, respect another’s property…Property? Clean the equipment after use,
don’t interrupt someone else’s scene…the list went on for two pages. How was
she supposed to remember all this? Infractions. Being disrespectful to any Dom,
Domme, Mistress or Master, lying, faking orgasm…Jill’s breath caught at that
one. Not that it would matter, she’d never be in a position to need to fake it,
but if she were, she’d be in violation constantly. She stopped for a moment and
tried to remember the last time she'd been satisfied. Color tinged her cheeks
as she looked up and found Steph watching her carefully, a bit of a frown
touching his lips. Jill swore to God the man was reading her thoughts.
Embarrassment settling in the pit of her stomach, she went back to reading. Punishments?
What in Christ’s name did they expect her to do wrong by simply sitting
somewhere and gawking at whatever it was that went on in there?
“I
think…” Jill looked up and started.
“That’s
part of the problem,” Steph said, putting a finger over her lips. “Sign so we
can go in.”
She
looked up at him and a bit of encouragement seeped through her. With a long, drawn
breath she precisely and neatly etched her name on the last page of the form
and pushed the paperwork back across the counter.

Hi Susie! I think Assumed Calling is my favorite of that series and I'm loving writing the first Steele book. Kyle is a dark, dark man.
