Good morning!
So, I’m sure most of you have
heard by now, Assumed Calling has a definite release date of November 17, and I
couldn’t be more excited! Along with that excitement, however, comes a bit of
sad. You see this will mark the end of the Identity series and I’ve loved
writing these books. I’ve come to know the characters and as I’m sure is the
case with y’all, they’re a permanent part of me now.
However, not only is this the end
of an era for these books, it also marks the beginning of something else new
and wonderful. It was while writing Assumed Callling, Kyle Montgomery started
talking to me again and loudly this time. I’d always known Kyle would at some
point get his own story. At first I thought he’d be a revisit and be book six
in the Identity series, but then when he started telling me the details of his
life and his heartbreaking reason for opening the first Steele Image club (oh
yes, I’ve since learned they are everywhere—remember the Toy Box? Yeah, I had
it all wrong—those were actually Steele Image clubs and for those of you
wondering, yes, those stories will be integrated into the Steele Image series
beginning next year)—So, where was I? Yes, when Kyle started telling me his
story I knew it was more than a story, it was the beginning of another series
altogether.
And just who all will you get to
know better or meet at these clubs, which are scattered all over the world by
the way? Kyle of course, his story is first and foremost. Then there’s Dillon
whom you’ll learn quite a bit more about in Assumed Calling, but he’s also
yammered at me for some time and while I’m still not sure what his whole story
is—it’s there. Then there’s Alex, Cord, Emilio, Drake, Connor…and the list goes
on and on. I think those boys Ben and Nate are in there somewhere. They started
talking to me a while back and I couldn’t figure out where they fit in, but I
know now it’s probably at Steele Image, Fort Campbell.
Now I realize next summer is a
long time to wait for the first of these books, so never fear readers, I have a
few things up my sleeve which will release between now and then. For instance,
A Slower Lower Leap—the third and final book in that series will come out this
winter, probably in February. I’ve also got one that’s been on the back burner
without a real title and is almost finished and is just waiting for me to baby
it a little. It’s a BDSM so I’m sure my kinky fans will really love it (it’s
also military so bonus!)
Now…just to give you an idea of
what Steele Image is all about, I give you the recently approved blurb…
Steele Image
In 1980, Kyle Montgomery’s life
was seemingly perfect. Heavily recruited by Force Recon fresh from the Naval
Academy, he’d been working black ops for the Marine Corps for six years and was
on the cusp of being promoted to Major. He was on the fast track to bigger and
better things, had all the right people vetting him, and he'd married the woman
of his dreams and was exploring a lifestyle which could have ended his career.
With the Iranian embassy under siege and the Middle East in turmoil, Kyle was
sent on a mission which would change the course of his life forever.
Returning home after three months
of being invisible, Kyle finds his wife has been murdered by the very people he'd
been sent to protect. And instead of the government retaliating, they hand him
his walking papers with the agreement they’ll never speak of the events again. It's
like Kyle never existed. His wife never existed. And the people who maimed and
tortured her never existed.
Resigned to never again walk that
path again, Kyle opens the first Steel Image club with the thought of providing
a safe haven for others like him, those who were invisible to the public and
most of the government. Those who had eclectic sexual tastes. Those who would
later become his allies. And his enemies. And both will drive him back to the
place he’d thought he’d let go of forever to vindicate his love…
Have a great week, y’all!
Lila
