Happy
Halloween, everyone!
In
a few hours the streets will be filled with goblins and ghouls and Justin
Bieber look-alikes…Oh my! Scary stuff I
must say. I’ll be honest with you, and some of you already know this because
you’ve followed me around for so long and I’ve talked about it before. I am a
great big fraidy cat. I don’t do scary movies, I don’t read scary books, and I
just don’t like to be afraid period.
I
wasn’t always like that. I used to marathon Freddy movies like it was cool and
visit haunted houses and all the rest of the fraidy stuff until my
brother-in-law scared me so badly one night while my husband was on duty I’ve
not watched a truly scary thing since. But I still like the Holly Homemaker
traditions of Halloween and all the corny little things that go with being a
“wholesome hostess.” Cider, apple bobs, finger foods (hehe)…Oh, I love Hocus
Pocus and watch it methodically this time of year and really who could do
without The Great Pumpkin? Yes, I live life on the safe side when it comes to
this holiday.
Normally
by this time of year my porches would be overflowing with mums and I’d have out
my harvest gardens flags, but with Marshfox gone again, quite frankly I simply
didn’t have the energy to do it this year. I’m pooped and am tired of spending
so many holidays alone even if they are just the simply celebrations of the
night of the dead. So, I am officially this year, I suppose in a sense, the
Scrooge of Halloween. In an effort to climb out of my funk, I did manage to get
my fall table dressings on the dinette and my sunflower wreath on the door, but
still feeling a bit blue about the whole thing I turned to this…Hope you enjoy!
At least now I feel like passing out the candy. J
